Last Years Workshop was a HUGE Success! We had an amazing group of planners in our workshop and I still stay in contact with them. Many of them have started their business and have strived in their first year! Many have developed new ways to market their business and are seeing great results since last August. One planner in particular worked as an intern with my company after the workshop and got offered an amazing job opportunity as a lead event manager in an large, reputable event production company.  Another planner who attended the workshop boosted up her company and now has 3 times the amount of clients she did when she attended and has been published in over a dozen magazines and wedding blogs. I am so proud of all of the accomplishments of the planners in the last 2 years so you can imagine my excitement for this years workshop. “Marry Me in Miami” – A nationwide wedding contest in true Miami style!

CORAL GABLES, FL (April 19, 2011) – Miami ties the knot! The Biltmore Hotel announces a partnership with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau in a dream wedding contest “Marry Me in Miami” giving away a Miami wedding valued at nearly $150,000. As one of the most renownedhistoric landmark hotels, the Biltmore offers a variety of extravagant ballrooms, complete with stunning views and European architectural influences — making it Miami’s premier site for extraordinary weddings.

Starting May 10, 2011, couples from across the U.S. may enter the contest and submit their love story by logging on to In June, five finalist couples will be randomly selected to visit Miami to compete for the grand prize in a “Wedding Day Challenge” obstacle course that will take place on June 22, 2011 on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. The couple who wins the challenge will receive a wedding ceremony and reception for 125 guests on October 9, 2011 at the Biltmore.

The Biltmore will join forces with premier wedding partners to plan and design a wedding set for true platinum status – including: celebrity wedding planner Jackie Ohh; wedding décor by Parrish Designs, Nuage Designs, Hitched Events and Uplyte; wedding cake by Elegant Temptations; entertainment by Michael Sarz, wedding photos by Rodrigo Varela; wedding video by Dream Video Production; transportation by Majestic Limousines; bridal dress by Daisy Tarsi; bridesmaids dresses by J. Del Olmo; and men’s tux by Bolado Clothiers. In addition, the Biltmore will offer hotel accommodations for the wedding party, as well as golf and spa services for the bride and groom. The NEW Knot Ultimate Wedding Lookbook is out and on book shelves and Jackie Ohh… Events together with UDS, Avant Gardens, and Elegant Temptations have two events published! Although ALL of my events are very special to me, these two are extra special as they were for my own wedding. This is the first time I blog anything of my wedding but I have to blog this. We are in a BOOK! Whoo Hoo…

The First spread is under Centers of Attention on page 55.I highlighted the picture in blue. It is a daylight picture of my ceremony at Vizcaya Museum on the oh-so famous casino mound. The ceremony at night was a dream! Shot out to Rick Interian for making my ceremony feel like heaven!

I am so excited to be introducing this new feature to my blog. Decor Trends with Jackie Ohh… will reveal the most recent decor trends in the wedding and event industry.  A couple of weeks ago Avant Gardens, Parrish Designs, and Jackie Ohh… Events put together these designs to illustrate the hottest upcoming trends. Bright color combinations make a BOLD statement in the design and decor of your event. The modern color combo of black and white is a great palette to start with. There are endless “pop” colors you can use to make your design unique. Yellow is a huge trend in color this season. It can be paired with slate grey, lime green, fuchsia, orange, turquoise etc.. Rick Interian and his design team at Avant Gardens put together this amazing design, talk about setting a trend. He used odd shapes and various textures throughout the table to make the overall design all about the details!  All of the wire used in the design was hand-wired by one of their top designers; from the over-sized round structure to the napkin rings that can also be used as corsages, a true piece of art!! WoW WoW!!! Ricki, this is a true masterpiece and one of my favorites ever! Thank YOU.

Advice from Rick Interian: “Being in the business for 20 years, I find that every wedding is unique as each bride and groom.  Don’t be afraid to express who you are and make a statement on your special day! “

Another HOT trend this season is all about Nature. Many times, Less is truly more. “Going Green”  has been a growing trend in which couples opt to use natural elements and very little floral elements in their decor. Bringing the natural elements of earth to a grande table design is something that Kathryn Parrish for Parrish Designs mastered. It was so amazing to see Kathyrn and her Design Team putting each of these natural branches together to make this modern masterpiece. The mix between the drift wood, textured ceramic containers, butterflies, and flowers with the elaborate rosette linen is the perfect combination in making this design beautifully perfect. Thank YOU!

Advice from Kathryn Parrish: “This centerpiece is for the bride who wants an interesting, organic and whimsical look. Manzanita and willow braches are a common site to see at weddings, so these branches add uniqueness. In addition, the butterflies are an unexpected element of beauty and delicacy. Your guests are sure to be wowed.”
